Lyrics - Greed

Did this one with my old band Valyem last year.

Greed

Corrupt, debauched, got your hands on stuff people can't touch/ You're high, you're rich, ignorant selfish little ___/ Got a million pairs of shoes/ You get out of bad and then you can't choose/ Hundreds of bank accounts in case something needs to help you out/ No such doubts, living in the clouds, don't ever want to come down/ Isn't it funny that money makes the world go 'round

Got cars going to Mars, reached the sky and head for the stars/ (Missing a couple of lines - song is ancient haha!)/ Bought a clothing store and now you want more, have you ever thought of helping the poor/ You could buy a supermarket chain, would you give it to those that are pain/ No such doubts, living in the clouds, don't ever want to come down/ Isn't it funny that money makes the world go 'round

Lyrics - No Fear

Ok so I'm gonna start posting some of my lyrics here from now on

No Fear

I'm not afraid no more/ Infinite more guts than before/ See from where I stand/ You've got guts if you don't go mad/ I've got something if you get stressed out/ Because there seems to be a lot about/ Just take it and you'll be sane again/ Guaranteed minimal pain/ I've got a prescription/ It's not a hard decision/ We've got no fear/ We decide to be here/ We've got no fear/ the sound's not in your ear/ It's in your head

You've got spiders waiting for you in your sleep/ And sharks gotta have something to eat/ Leeches get under your skin/ Vultures will pluck until you're stick thin/ I've got something if your mind decays/ Because it seems to happen heaps these days/ Just take it and you'll be sane again/ Guaranteed minimal pain/ It stops you running riot/ I think you should try it/ We've got no fear/ We decide to be here/ We've got no fear/ the sound's not in your ear/ It's in your head

You've got no mind anymore/ This drug will cure/ We've got no fear/ We decide to be here/ We've got no fear/ the sound's not in your ear/ It's in your head.

Hey peoples

Pretty uninteresting at the moment, still waiting on CD's. Not really sure what's going on. I'm gonna head in a new direction by having every song sung by different people - inspiration behind that idea was Skrillex's All I ask of you. So that's what I'm gonna try and do from now on. Already got one person interested ;)

That's it for the moment really, just got back to Palmy after spending some time in Hastings. So much more to do in Palmy... anyway I'm off, cya!

Wow that's a long link.

Got some hundy study to do so I'll catch you later.

28 Mar 2012

Hey everyone,

Hope you're all having a fun time doing whatever you love doing - university, schoolwork, homework, actual work, sport, partying, whatever. However I've been getting a little worried lately that I haven't heard from the person who's supposed to be burning and printing my new CD's. So in the meantime I've been working on some remixes, check them out here: http://soundcloud.com/stephenkilgour567/sets/remixes/. I'm making use of SoundCloud more now because there's no file size limit to upload.

Anyway I better be off now, gotta go play some volleyball for COLOMBOOOOOO haha, cya later!

18 Mar 2012

Hi everyone,

It's currently 4:30 in the morning and I'm pulling an all-nighter, since I've been gaming in Hamish's room for ages. Anyway, my new album "The Void" is coming out soon, stay tuned on my Facebook page (www.facebook.com/stephenkilgour.music) for more details. I've recently obtained Massive by Native Instruments but have very little knowledge about it haha, I'll figure it out sooner or later.

For The Void, I might just post them in the mail this time around. Saves fuss and petrol. I'll figure out a way for you guys to order soon.

Anyway that's me for the night, I'll see you guys later =) Steve out.

5 Mar 2012

Hi to all the people that bother to read this =P

Haha well anyway I have some news this week. Not only have I finally finished writing, mixing and producing my new batch of music - some of it is getting airtime on Massey University's Radio Control! Cheers Greg, make sure everyone tunes into Radio Control 99.4FM on Friday 10am to catch him on air.

I'm sure you can guess this already if you've been a fan since the beginning, but I'm gonna make this bunch of music into a CD. Hopefully I can get it distributed to you all in a more appropriate way, rather than driving around to your house haha. I'll come up with something. Anyway I wanna say a big thank-you to my supporters who like my music and keep coming back for more, you guys are awesome and it gives me motivation to keep it up =)

So anyway, if you guys wanna hear the latest stuff, I'd recommend going to SoundCloud this time (http://soundcloud.com/stephenkilgour567) rather than ReverbNation (http://www.reverbnation.com/stephenkilgour) as two songs exceed the file size on RN (hence the lesser quality "Alternate Mixes"). You might also be able to tell the the Master EQ on those tracks isn't the same as the new stuff. I'll keep you guys posted with all the latest news and info on Facebook (www.facebook.com/stephenkilgour.music). And if you don't have a Facebook account, well, I dunno aye.

Hopefully next week is even more exciting and eventful. Catch you guys later!

Stephen

28 Feb 2012

Hello everyone

It's me again, was kinda busy yesterday so I'm writing this on a Tuesday instead of a Monday. Managed to move into my halls of residence last Monday. Met heaps of cool people in my hall and others that go to Massey University. Computer's got some CPU issues so my music stuff is kinda on hold for the moment until I can get that sorted. Lectures are pretty good, a kind of laidback atmosphere, and got information for courses online and in textbooks and study notes. I'm excited for when Mark gets back from America so I can send someone over and get my new electronica album released (Once I do the final mixing). It should be pretty awesome, more focused on rhythm and beats and a signature combination of instruments that I'm starting to form. Keep an eye on my facebook page http://www.facebook.com/stephenkilgour.music for news and information.

Thanks for reading, cya later!

20 Feb 2012

Hi peoples, I'm in Palmy now.

Settled into uni, which is great, met heaps of awesome new people, and found a church called Crossroads that almost literally oozes musical talent. Orientation week starts Wednesday so that'll be fun. I have very limited internet access at the moment, next weeks post will definitely be longer haha. Steve out.

13 Feb 2012

Hi everyone, judging by what I wrote in last weeks post, I don't think much has changed really, done a couple of remixes of some of my songs on YouTube - check them out http://www.youtube.com/user/RFMG567.

I did some traffic surveying for Traffic Design Group last week (yeah this isn't music related but it's what some people call a "slow news day") and I have to say my boss George Eivers is really awesome to work for, really good guy.

Anyway, leaving for Uni on Saturday, might include some Uni capers in here next week. Steve out. Cya!

6 Feb 2012

Crap I forgot all about my blog... too busy making music =)

Written six new songs since last time - "Doors Open", "Insistent", "Cruise", "Holding On", "Wormhole" and "Colours" - and along with an older song from another side project "Nerves Of Steel", these songs are gonna feature on a new release called "The Void" which should be coming out next month. Bit of a delay sorry.

Anyway I'm gonna try helping a friend by the name of Greta Crossan (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Greta-Crossan/182068138524580) with her recordings, so stay tuned for that. You should check her link out above, she's a very good singer.

I'm heading off to Massey University on the 18th so my rate of music production will probably decrease but nonetheless I shall try to keep up with this blog. I'm keen as to start a band down there, just saying.

I also took them LED's out of my Ibanez (I really should come up with a nickname for that guitar) because they were getting to be a bit annoying.

That's all for the moment peoples. Steve out.

17 Jan 2012

Whoops, was supposed to do this yesterday. Was too busy playing music for old people and getting stressed out in the studio with Ben.

It was good experience playing at the Age Concern Centre yesterday. Was kinda hard to find a park though. All the parks on the block were 15 minute parking places. After driving around the block twice, I drove up their driveway - which was incredibly narrow, and the carpark at the back was rather small. Leaving at the end of my performance was a test of my reversing ability haha. Anyway, my performance was a good challenge because obviously, no amps or distortion, just acoustic instruments. Played classical guitar and did some improv for half an hour, then did some piano improv for another half an hour. Piano improv is great if your music theory knowledge is airtight - I mean, here's me modulating all over the place and I could have sworn I heard one of them folks say "Is he playing a B flat???" Good times haha.

So after that I headed over to Te Mata peak to Ben's studio, and the equipment played up again. Must not like me... at least there's a bit more room to more in the recording room now. We had a bit of a drum off afterwards but I'm sure everyone could guess who won that one haha!

So anyway I'm still doing instrumental stuff in the meantime, check out Hallucinate here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JM3hAnglQD8, I demonstrate my new ability to sidechain in this. A lot of people seem to like it, so check it out here. Otherwise thats basically my musical week in a nutshell. Cya! =)

8 Jan 2012

Good morning everyone =)
(That's a smiley face by the way, I do them different to the usual :) )

Anyway, over the last couple of days I've been working on developing my ability to use FL Studio, most noticably, the sidechain effect in my newest creation "Hallucinate" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JM3hAnglQD8&feature=g-u&context=G21550c9FUAAAAAAABAA. It's quite simple when you get the hang of it, you have to know how to send instruments to the mixer and link controllers and that kind of thing. I dunno, there's not much happening but I'm trying to post one of these blogs every Monday. So what else has happened... hmmm. Not really a lot, haven't really worked on Step In The Dark (New CD thing) lately, although I've finished the lyrics to all but one song. Better give Ben a ring this afternoon... haha. Anyway, if you have a copy of Guitar Pro or Power Tab and want one of my songs in tablature so you can play it, just let me know, you can post on my wall on Facebook at  http://www.facebook.com/stephenkilgour.music and I'll see what I can do. Probably one of the more playable songs though, like Sleep or Edge Of Light or even Sand and Inverse.

Everyone have a good week =) I'm outta here - thanks for reading.

1 Jan 2012

First of all, Happy New Year everyone! Hope everyone had as much fun as I did on Saturday night.

Now then, lets talk music. Let's see...

Guitars.
Well I've finally figured out a standard tuning for both my electrics, as I used to have a habit of having to retune to some crazy tuning for just about every song in Valyem. Its now Drop D for the Raptor and Drop Eb for the RG. I'm also really liking my new Dean Edge 1-5 5-string bass, sounds really nice. Only downside is that the strings are friggin $70 to replace.

Music in general.
Well obviously "Last Stand" was very diverse in genre, ranging from jazz to electronic. I've finished recording the music itself for the next CD, just gotta add the vocals. It's aiming to be an electronic rock CD, but the next one after that is planned to be an actual rock album, seeing as my fellow bandmate Ben Bartley has his recording studio up and running.

Ben's Recording studio.
OK well first of all, it looks very professional and really awesome. But as far as recording stuff goes, it's just been a nightmare so far. Hope to get everything sorted out soon.

Next CD.
It's gonna have 10 tracks on it, one of which is an instrumental song. I've narrowed down the choice in instrument sounds from "Last Stand", for example, I'm only using one drum kit now. It's also got a central theme to the CD, but that's all I'm gonna say about my new project at the present time.

I also have one copy left of the current batch of "Last Stand" CD's sitting on my bedside table if anyone wants to buy it.  http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=435768853

Right, I'm off to bed now. Cya =)
